About Bongo Girls Secondary School

facilities

As earlier mentioned, the school is government assisted meaning that the government provides teachers. However, due to the shortage of teachers, the parents have employed 4 teachers and the government 18, giving a total of 22 teachers’ borehole was sunk last year; therefore the school has adequate water. We have facilities to cater for two streams and we also enjoy a laboratory though not well equipped.

It is worthy noting that the Government only provides teachers and has left the burden of development to parents. This has proved very challenging because the parents are poor small scale farmers mainly doing subsistence farming. There is no cash crop in this area.

The parents are agonizing on how to build three extra class rooms dormitory to cater for a third stream. A dormitory is under construction after parents did a fundraising but this has stalled because the fund got depleted.

Challanges:

School Library-
The school has no library at all. This has posed a very big challenge to learning. The school is ready to provide a room to start one. We are appealing to people of Good Will, Foundation and Organization both International and Local to donate books, equipment and other reading materials either in kind or otherwise .This will greatly enhance our Performance hence giving the girl child a chance in life. Our teachers are committed and hard working, but of this facility the academics have suffered.

Laboratory
To help us offer three science subjects effectively, the school needs a second equipped laboratory.

Computer Lab –
The school needs a computer laboratory to keep abreast with Information Technology (IT).

Additional classrooms
To cater for a third stream, the school needs additional classrooms and an extra dormitory.

School bus
So far, the parents have not managed to provide an urgently needed school bus. This poses a great challenge particularly when the girls fall sick at night for we usually carry them on our backs for treatment to the health facility. The school bus is handy for taking student for Educational tours, co-curriculum activities, and ferrying provisions to the school.
Performance

Performance

Through the years, despite the enumerated challenges, the school performance  has improved. We believe that we have great potential and can compete effectively with other Girls school within the Province or nationally if all or some of the enumerated  challenges are alleviated.
